The fastest, most affordable way to monitor dental unit waterlines for harmful bacteria.
In-office tests used on a more frequent basis may help ensure compliance with biofilm mitigation protocols and provide early warning of problems with biofilm control.1
With FASTCheck15®, you can confidently determine whether your dental unit waterline complies with the EPA standard for water quality, in just 15 minutes.

FASTCheck15™ meets the need for routinely assessing bacteria content in effluent handpiece water and ensuring compliance with the CDC guideline of <500 CFU/mL.
No!! Only place 5 drops of sample water into the test vial using the pipette provided.
More than 5 drops will dilute the sample and lead to an inaccurate result. For more information, refer to the Instructions for Use (IFU), in the links above.
Pooling is a method of combining water samples from multiple handpieces/lines in the same chair in a single sample for testing. “Pooling” samples is a reasonable method if one sample represents a single dental unit.
Do NOT combine samples from different operatories (chairs).
If you do not see the control line appear after 15-20min, the test did not work and will need to be repeated. Be sure to review the Instructions for Use.
Mistakes happen. Potential reasons for the test not working include:
Unlike some HPC “paddle” tests, FASTCheck15™ does not require a neutralizer.
It uses a different technology that provides a rapid result without the need for incubation.
Why paddle, when you can FASTCheck15!
Check in with your compliance manager to determine testing intervals.
Sterisil recommends testing monthly with FASTCheck15™.
OSAP recommends monthly testing until two successive passing results are obtained, then at least quarterly. FASTCheck15™ allows you to test between lab results or after remediation to confirm success
Bacteria duplicates every 4-20 minutes and can exceed the <500 CFU/ml EPA drinking water standard within hours in untreated lines.
Why Paddle, When you can FASTCheck15™? It’s About Time.
FASTCheck15™ provides a rapid response informing dental practices to take corrective action right away if bacteria levels are too high, rather than continuing to treat patients with potentially contaminated water while waiting for results.
With FASTCheck15™, you can shock waterlines and retest the same day to confirm safety, minimizing disruptions to your schedule.
FASTCheck15™ is the fastest, most affordable way to monitor water quality for harmful bacteria. It’s About Time.
FASTCheck15™ provides immediate pass/fail results based on the EPA drinking water standard (≤500 CFU/mL), allowing for quick corrective action when needed. However, Sterisil R2A with FASTRead provides quantitative results with exact bacterial counts and formal documentation that may be required for regulatory compliance purposes.
Sterisil® offers the convenience of time, effort and cost savings, while also focusing on what matters most – results you can trust.
Together, these solutions offer a superior combination of testing. Its About Time.
Bacteria in dental waterlines multiply rapidly—doubling every 4-20 minutes in favorable conditions—which means contamination can escalate from safe levels to dangerous levels within hours, not days. These bacteria form biofilm, a slimy protective layer that adheres to waterline walls and becomes increasingly difficult to remove once established. Biofilm acts as a breeding ground where bacteria are sheltered from treatments, continuously releasing new bacteria into the water that flows through your patients’ mouths. Regular testing with tools such as FASTCheck15™ allows you to catch contamination early, before bacteria reach harmful levels and before biofilm becomes firmly established, making it much easier to address problems quickly and maintain consistently safe water for your patients.
Used FASTCheck15 test components can be disposed of with your regular office waste.
They do not contain hazardous materials that require special disposal methods.
